A Place to Stand
Dark Skinned Women

fuckyeahfamousblackgirls:

My mission for all of you is, whether you’re light, brown, or dark as midnight, if you follow people on Twitter who degrade dark-skinned people, don’t laugh it off and constantly take it. Don’t encourage it. Unfollow them.

You listen to a Lil Wayne track or another rapper’s song and he’s clowning on dark-skinned women…Recycle bin that bullshit. We need to take a stand against this. We’ve been tolerant of this behavior for too fucking long, and it’s about to be 2012.

Do you know that the re-tweets of these were typically by dark-skinned females? Do better babies. Please make sure you tell your nieces, cousins, and daughters that they are beautiful, because I’d hate for them to be the assholes bullying other dark-skinned black people.

^ Truth.
The variations in all skin tones are truly amazing and I absolutely adore dark skin. I know I will never, ever go through the struggles people face because of their natural dark skin, but I just have to say that you are all beautiful, admirable, and captivating in my eyes.

Stay strong & Jah bless you all.

She saw a lot that was terrible, but she stayed hopeful. She still believed that things were getting better, sometimes despite all evidence. And that’s a hard thing to do, stay hopeful. Even when you can’t find a reason.
