Privilege exists in society, no doubt. Need I repeat myself?
Its very to take a step back and analyze. Everyone does what they do for a reason, so think before you judge.
From the Hurricane Katrina views to the incident with Taylor Swift at the Awards, many might be led to believe that he is a racist. But what people really need to understand is Kanye West has strived to be a voice for the Black community. The way in which he has gone about it has caused those who aren’t part of the oppressed community to look down on him, but I know that no one is perfect. I honestly believe in this man, and I believe that he can do great things for the Black community. He is growing and learning just as we all are, so don’t be quick too judge him for not making perfect decisions.
Martin Luther King once said, “We must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline,” meaning, you cannot rise nor can you teach others to rise from oppression without discipline and dignity. It is true that for a long time the White community and media has put the Black community down in a terrible way. But even in times of greatest oppression, MLK held his head high with dignity and respect for all. In the same way, I believe that Kanye West will learn to help others rise from oppression.
I honestly do have faith in him.
